Christmas Memories

John Mcdermott Christmas Memories Lyrics
1.Instrumental Medley 1

Away in a manger,
Angels from the realms of glory
Good king wenceslas
In dulci jubilo

2.Gesu Bambino

When blossoms flower e'er 'mid the snows,
Upon a winter night,
Was born the child, the christmas rose,
The king of love and light.
The angels sang, the shepherds sang,
The grateful earth rejoiced;
And at his blessed birth the stars
Their exultation voiced.

Chorus:
O come let us adore him
O come let us adore him
O come let us adore him
Christ the lord.

Again the heart with rapture glows
To greet the holy night,
That gave the world its christmas rose,
Its king of love and light
Let ev'ry voice acclaim his name,
The grateful chorus swell
From paradise to earth he came
That we with him might dwell.

Chorus

3.Panis Angelicus

Panis angelicus fit panis hominum;
Dat panis coelicus figuris terminum:
O res mirabilis! manducat cominum.
Pauper, pauper, servus et humilis,
Pauper, pauper, servus et humilis.

Panis angelicus fit panis himinum;
Dat panis coelicus figuris terminum:
O res mirabilis! manducat dominum.
Pauper, pauper, servus et humilis,
Pauper, pauper, servus, servus et humilis

4.Ave Maria

Ave maria gratia plena
Maria gratia plena
Maria gratia plena
Ave, ave dominus
Dominus tecum
Benedicta tu in mulieribus
Et benedictus
Et benedictus frutus ventris
Ventris tui jesus
Ave maria

Ave maria mater dei
Ora pro nobis pecatoribus
Ora, ora pro nobis
Ora ora pro nobis pecatoribus
Nunc et in hora mortis
In hora mortis nostrae
In hora mortis, mortis nostrae
In hora mortis nostrae
Ave maria

5.What Child Is This

What child is this, who laid to rest
On mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is christ the king,
Whom shepherds worship and angels sing:
Haste, haste to bring him laud,
The babe, the son of mary.

Why lies he in such mean estate,
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Come have no fear, god's son is here,
His love all loves exceeding.
Nails, spear, shall pierce him through,
The cross be borne for me, for you:
Hail, hail, the saviour comes,
The babe, the son of mary.

So bring him incense, gold and myrrh,
All tongues and peoples own him.
The king of kings salvation brings,
Let ev'ry heart enthrone him.
Raise, raise your song on high,
While mary sings a lullaby;
Joy, joy for christ is born,
The babe, the son of mary.

6.Lo How A Rose E'er Blooming

Lo how a rose e'er blooming
From tender stem hath sprung
Of jesse's lineage coming
As seers of old have sung
It came a blossom bright
Amid the cold of winter
When half spent was the night

Isaiah 'twas foretold it
The rose i have in mind
With mary we behold it
The virgin mother kind
To show god's love a right
She bore to us a savior
When half spent was the night

O flower whose fragrance tender
With sweetness fills the air
Dispel in glorious splendor
The darkness everywhere
True man yet very god
From sin and death now save us
And share our every load

7.O Holy Night

O holy night
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night
Of the dear saviour's birth
Long lay the world
In sin and error pining
'til he appeared
And the soul felt its worth
A thrill of hope
The weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks
A new and glorious morn'
Fall on your knees
O hear the angel voices
O night divine
O night when christ was born
O night divine, o night, o night divine

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming
With glowing hearts
By his cradle we stand
So led by the light
Of a star sweetly gleaming
There came the wise men
From orient land
The king of kings lay
Thus in lowly manger
In all our trials
Born to be our friend
He knows our need
He guardeth us from danger
Behold your king
Before him lowly bend
Behold you king
Before him lowly bend

8.Suo Gan

Holy saviour, yet so tiny,
Mighty ruler, yet so small.
Infant lowly, born so humbly,
Yet redeemer of us all.
Now the angels sing to greet thee,
God is with us, here on earth.
With the shepherds and the wise men,
Come to see his holy birth

Holy jesus in a manger,
Little baby in a stall,
Infant holy, god's messiah,
Born to suffer for us all;
Angels bending o'er the cradle,
God's anointed from on high,
Blessed mary watches o'er you
Singing sweetly 'lullaby'.
Blessed mary watches o'er you
Singing sweetly lullaby'.

9.Instrumental Medley 2

Deck the halls (with boughs of holly)
Noel nouvelet
Patapan
The angels and the shepherds
We wish you a merry christmas

10.O Little Town Of Bethlehem

O little town of bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep,
The silent stars go by;
Yet in thy dark streets shineth,
The ever lasting light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight.

For christ is born of mary,
And gathered all above,
While mortals sleep the angels keep
Their watch of wond'ring love.
O morning stars together,
Proclaim the holy birth,
And praises sing to god the king,
And peace to men on earth.

How silently, how silently,
The wondrous gift is giv'n!
So god imparts to human hearts
The blessings of his heav'n.
No ear may hear his coming;
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive him, still,
The dear christ enters in.

O holy child of bethlehem,
Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter in,
Be born in us today.
We heard the christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us,
Our lord emmanuel.

11.The Holly And The Ivy

The holly and the ivy,
When they are both full grown,
Of all the trees that are in the wood,
The holly bears the crown.
The rising of the sun,
And the running of the deer,
The playing of the merry organ,
Sweet singing in the choir.

The holly bears a berry,
As sweet as any flower,
And mary bore sweet jesus christ,
To be our sweet saviour.
The rising of the sun,
And the running of the deer,
The playing of the merry organ,
Sweet singing in the choir.

The holly bears a berry,
As red as any blood;
And mary bore sweet jesus christ,
For to do us sinners good.
The rising of the sun,
And the running of the deer,
The playing of the merry organ,
Sweet singing in the choir.

The holly bears a prickle,
As sharp as any thorn,
And mary bore sweet jesus christ,
On christmas day in the morn'.
The rising of the sun,
And the running of the deer,
The playing of the merry organ,
Sweet singing in the choir.

The holly bears a bark,
As bitter as any gall;
And mary bore sweet jesus christ,
For to redeem us all.
The rising of the sun,
And the running of the deer,
The playing of the merry organ,
Sweet singing in the choir.
The playing of the merry organ,
Sweet singing in the choir.

12.Silent Night

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child
Holy infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace!
Sleep in heavenly peace!

Stille nacht, heilige nacht
Alles schlaft, einsam wacht
Nur das traute hochhieilige paar,
Holder knabe im lockigen haar,
Schlaf' in himmlischer huh.
Schlaf' in himmlischer ruh.

Silent night, holy night,
Son of god, love's pure light
Radiant beams from thy holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus lord at thy birth.
Jesus lord at thy birth

13.Somewhere A Child Is Sleeping

The snow is softly falling
The night is cold and grey
The forests fields and mountains
Await the coming day
One star outshines the others
So bright as if to say
This is a special morning
A child was born on christmas day.

Long ago, far away
In a stable bare
Look and see, he sleeps so peacefully
As if the cold of night were never there
Bless all the little children
Whenever they may lay
Somewhere a child is sleeping
A child was born on christmas day.

So we might love each other
In peace and honor's way
Somewhere a child is sleeping
A child was born on christmas day
To save the world from sadness
His troubled life he gave
To offer hope and gladness
Our weary souls to save
To comfort us in trouble
To guide us ev'ryday
One hope for life eternal
A child was born on christmas day

Long ago, far away
In a stable bare
Look and see he sleeps so peacefully
As if the cold of night were never there
Bless all the little children
Where ever they may lay
Somewhere a child is sleeping
A child was born on christmas day.
So we might love each other
In peace and honor's way
Somewhere a child is sleeping
A child was born on christmas day.

14.Old Tin Star

How old was i, 5 or 6 or so
The innocent years, long ago
Father on a chair reaching up so far
Crowning the tree, with that old tin star
And it shines so pretty diamonds in the sun
Nothin' but good things will ever come
Little boy don't grow up stay as sweet as you are
So you still gaze in wonder at that old tin star.

I grew up and i found a place to live
As i unpacked my things i found a gift
And it felt like home, though i'd come so far
For there in my hands was that old tin star
And it shines so pretty, diamonds in the sun
Nothing but good things, will ever come
Little boy don't grow up, stay as sweet as you are
So you still gaze in wonder, at that old tin star.

I have kids of my own and troubles i've had some
I've cried my tears and i've had my fun
I climb that chair and i reach out so far
And my son looks up at that old tin star
And it shines so pretty, diamonds in the sun
Nothing but good things will ever come
Little boy don't grow up, stay as sweet as you are
So you still gaze in wonder, at that old tin star.

15.Christmas Memories

The christmas season here at last
I wish you peace and joy
I'll sing this song of times long gone
And pray you will enjoy
For the fondest memories i recall
Were on a christmas morn'
When my dear father sang his songs
And christ the king was born

The songs he sang so loudly rang
Throughout our happy house
But when mother took her turn,
He sat as quietly as a mouse
The fondest memories i recall
Were on a christmas morn'
How mother sang the sweetest songs
And christ the king was born.

I am my father's son you know
And i sing on christmas day
I sing a song to days long gone
And those who've passed away
I have four children proud and strong
And they have children too
And on christmas morn they sing along
Just like we use to do
The fondest memories we shall have
Take place on christmas morn'
My children's children sing their songs
And christ the king is born.

16.The Secret Of Christmas

It's not the glow you feel
When snow appears
It's not the christmas card
You've sent for years
Not the joyful sound
When sleigh bells ring
Or the merry songs
Children sing

That little gift you send
On christmas day
Will not bring back the friend
You've turned away
So may i suggest the secret of christmas
It's not the things you do
At christmas time
But the christmas things you do
All year through

That little gift you send
On christmas day
Will not bring back the friend
You've turned away
So may i suggest
The secret of christmas
It's not the things you do
At christmas time
But the christmas things you do
All year through
